So what is a day at the Parks' like? Here is a snapshot:
-Kiddos woke up between 7:30 - 8:20 (yes, some of them actually slept in due to the dark and rainy day today)
-Gave them all breakfast - we were out of a lot because I wasn't able to do my normal shopping on Friday due to the party, so everyone got cold cereal. Not a favorite of everyone.
-Everyone brushes their teeth, gets their grease on, scalp treatments and gets dressed for the day when they are finished with breakfast.
-I was actually impressed this morning because we were all upstairs before 9, getting ready for the day (this is the point at which I should've realized it was too good to be true)!
-Kd and I were discussing what he was wearing...wasting time...so I picked out something and just dressed him (which I normally don't do). Off went his shirt and there IT was. At first I thought that he had a smashed spider on his back (that would've been bad too), but - oh, no - it was a tick! A big tick...and it was still...alive! Trying to hold my composure, I took him to the bathroom to find tweezers to remove it. One yank and that was all I could stomach. His skin lifted up and the thing squirmed! I was done. I called all the children into the bathroom and made them all get undressed (after they finally got dressed) and checked all of them from head to toe. If I had to go out for one, the last thing that I wanted to do was come home and fine out someone else had one on them too! I called the doctor's office several times. Thirty minutes later and still no answer, Kd and I went into the van (thank goodness for Gma) and off to the doctors office. We didn't have an appointment, but I wasn't leaving until it was off of Kd. He must have been nervous because that was the quietest he has been in years. I asked him if he wanted to see it on his back, and he declined. We finally got in and one little yank (with the right equipment) and out it came and ran all over the napkin. At this point, Kd was quite thrilled with the bug that was on his back - I was not - it looked a little too much like a spider for my liking! I think that I should've invested the twenty dollars in my own tick removal equipment instead of the co-pay!
