...when you actually clean your house! I have been complaining for a few weeks about a lost belt, and even longer about lost dance tights (and all those mothers of dancers know, the last thing I wanted to lose/have to buy more of at this time in the year, is tights!). I began my day today determined to get the bedrooms cleaned and vacuumed. After several hours, all summer clothes were in the drawers and closets, all the kids winter clothes were either boxed up for next year or bagged to give away, all "stuff" that didn't belong upstairs was brought downstairs. And somewhere in the mixed I fixed the vacuum so that it actually picked up the dirt on the floor, not just made a loud noise and track marks! I still was not able to find the other sock to my ever growing stack of orphaned socks, but all in good time...we'll pretend it is a treasure hunt someday.
After dinner we took the kids out for ice cream/sherbert. Me, Kd and Ky were finished before we got home. The other two took their time, and never did finish. Seems that they like the idea of ice cream more than the actual ice cream itself.
Kp was playing outside with all the other kids today, and had a bit of a sad moment. I don't know what brought it on, but she seemed to all of the sudden miss Mama, Tewon and her sister. My heart was breaking for her. This really was the first time she had ever mentioned them on her own since we got back. It just really reminded me that she hasn't "always been here" although it feels like that to me. I guess it is part of the grieving process and I tried to get her to talk a little about it, and then showed her where the books were of her family and told her she could look at them whenever she was feeling sad. At this point I was also very glad we had decided to adopt a sibling group because they will forever have each other close. She seemed to quickly turn back into her happy self and went about her day. It is good for me to remember to pray for her, because although young, she has been through a lot...
Kd walks around calling himself a big fat man...really funny! Kb finishes every meal and states that he is going to be "fat" like daddy! Where they are from this would be a compliment, but here it is not, it is just funny to hear him say that! Ky actually did her flashcards yesterday without a single tear...the FIRST time since the beginning of school that that has occurred!
Side notes:
1. All of you that thought we were nuts before with the shield over our Culligan tap, well now it got worse. Within the past week, I have woken up twice to the Culligan tank being nearly emptied and water everywhere, ruining the hardwood floors...SO, I read somewhere that cats dislike aluminum foil. Now our culligan tank is covered in aluminium foil. Have a great laugh at our expense next time you're over!
2. Of all people, apparently my mom is not reading my blog and has not yet read her birthday post. At this point, I think I am going to wait to see how long it takes her!
